Huller House Refurbishment, Bristol

This project involved the conversion and extension of the Grade II listed Huller House and the Cheese Warehouse into 50 residential apartments on Redcliffe Backs in Bristol.


Legsun carried out the design, installation, testing and commissioning of the building services works, including:

  • Hot and cold water supplied to all sanitary ware and kitchen appliances/sinks. Electric hot water cylinders (180 litre) provide hot water storage to the penthouse suites
  • Cold water systems include a boosted cold water pump in the basement and a cold water storage tank in the
  • Air source heat pump to penthouse apartments, with underfloor heating and thermostat controls
  • Heatrea Sadia Electromax boilers in all apartments below penthouse, providing hot water and heating, with Stelrad compact radiators with TRVs, thermostat and clock
  • Extract ventilation systems in kitchens, bathrooms and toilets of all apartments. Extract systems also installed in cycle and bin storage areas
  • Above ground drainage via uPVC pipework
  • Electrical distribution systems consisting of MCCB panel board feeding main landlord areas, together with feeds to a Ryfield distribution board to feed separate MCCB panel boards to each floor.
  • 5kW roof-mounted solar PV system
  • Wiring, distribution and lighting to all apartments
  • Lighting of all corridor, stairwell, bin and cycle store areas, including emergency and exit route lighting
  • Door access, CCTV and intruder alarm systems
  • Fire alarm system
  • MATV cable television systems to all apartments
  • Lightning protection
  • Earthing and bonding
